Easter in Trieste? Here are a few suggestions…(2/2)

Food, events and some relax time at the Spa

Last week I published the first article dedicated to spending your Easter break in Trieste, but there are so many things to do and the area is so large and filled with opportunities that I had to divide the article in two parts; Today I’ll tell you about a few interesting places where you can taste traditional food, the best wellness centres and a few irresistible events.

I created different types of itineraries and in the last article I published you will find the best day trips, shopping tours and local art boutiques, as well as a brief tour guide of the city’s main attractions.

For this second article, I’d like to start with food, with the best locations to enjoy the tastes of traditional cuisine:

  • For an excellent ice-cream, I suggest you stop at Zampolli’s; here they also have great granite, my personal favourite is strawberries and cream!
  • For a tour of the typical buffets of the city, try the boiled meat at Pepi Sciavo or Siora Rosa (typical tourist destination), at da Gildo or da Rudy, in via Valdirivo, while in via San Lazzaro the place to stop is da Giovanni, where you can try the tasty “rodoletti”, little rolls of ham and horse radish.
  • For an aperitivo or a cocktail the street of Trieste’s movida is via Torino, where the many bars are always packed with people

  • You will have to stop for coffee; try the typical “Capo in B” (capuccino in a glass) of one of the many local coffee brands, the classic Illy or Guatemala caffè.
  • To buy a few local delicacies the best places in town are Alimentazione BM in via Roma for food and Bishoffin via Mazzini for a good bottle of local wine.
  • A must see are the typical Osmize , but always remember to check which one is open on Osmize.com
  • For a nice fish meal, I suggest you stop to eat at Nero di Seppia, Trattoria Tre Magnoni, Joia e Al Bagatto
Ristorante Nero di Seppia, il fritto di pesce più buono di Trieste.

But holidays are also the best moment to take some time off to relax, so why not try a wellness centre?

I selected the best places in town!

For wellness and personal care:

  • A massage at Baan Thai, the place to be cuddled and spoiled surrounded by an oriental atmosphere without leaving Trieste’s centre
  • Some advice, a haircut or a new colour at Goran, the best salon in Trieste and one of the 12 best in Italy, prized with two diamonds by Uala.
  • A Sunday dedicated to wellness at Avalon Borgo Grotta Gigante (you can also take a tour guide of the local cave Grotta Gigante)
  • A spa with a view at the Hotel Riviera & Maximilian on the Costiera road.
  • PortoPiccolo's sèa, a 3.500 sqm spa that will be opening in April, I’ve already had a sneak peek at it and it looks very promising

It you still have some time left there are two events that you can’t miss where you can find a few gifts to take back home:

  • A walk at Horti Tergestini in the park of San Giovanni, a market for plants and garden accessories, art expositions, book presentations, conferences and other related events
  • A look around the Antique and Second-Hand Market, in the ghetto of Trieste, right behind Piazza Unità d’Italia, to discover Biedermeier furniture, Bohemian crystals, objects from the Karst, Vienna porcelain and an infinite number of objects from the time of the Hapsburg Empire
