There are quite a few things that get me easily worked up. I particularly love food but I also quite enjoy a good glass of wine. If it’s wine from our territory, from this wonderful region that can boast an enchanted sea and incredible mountains…well, even better 🙂
This is to introduce a unique and incredible event. Enjoy Collio Experience is held From the 28th of May till the 3rd of June, a week of events to fully experience the territory and surround yourself of the beauty of these places.
Ah the Collio. Such a beautiful and complex reality, capable of maintaining its biodiversity. Want to know what the perfect synthesis of this universe is? A glass of wine made here. Wine that can tell about all the love and passion that both men and women give to produce such an exquisite product.
As I was saying this kermesse will give you the opportunity to discover the entire surrounding territory. I’d like to tell you a little about the best events that are planned ( not all of them because there’re just too many! If you want to read up on all of them, here’s the complete program).
On Monday the 28th of May, the first day of Enjoy Collio Experience, from 7.30 pm to 10.30pm, I suggest you check into the Galà rural in San Floriano. Let’s talk about it. Anyone would like to enjoy this location from the highest point, tasting the wines of local producers, with a little jazz in the background? Here’s the link in case you’d like to book.
I also have to tell you about the Pic-Nic on the Collio, cuddled between the vineyard of BraideAlt of the wine producer Livon in Ruttars. On Wednesday the 30th of May, from 7.30 to 10.30, just as the sun is ready to set…just wait a moment as I try to picture it. I’m getting goose bumps! As the day comes to an end you’ll be able to taste the wines of the Collio and the products of AQUA. Here’s the link to book with all information and prices.
On Friday the 1st of June, among the many events organized by Enjoy Collio Experience, I think three are quite special. A lovely dinner in the park of Castello di Formentini (in San Floriano!) where they will serve dishes from the local tradition, accompanied by excellent wines (here’s the link to book). The servings are created by the Austrian chef Franz Fink with an honor guest … Malvasia J
Next stop, another castle. Alway on the 1st of June, from 11.30 am to 4.30 pm, the medieval winecellat of the Castello di Spessa, a local jewel from the 13th century, will open its doors to anyone wanting to visit, with the possibility of tasting the wines produced by the Pali family. Sounds interesting? I can’t wait… here you can book. The same event will be repeated on Sunday the 3rd of June.
The same day, from 10.30am to 2.30 pm, you can visit the vineyards and the history wine cellar of Russiz Superiore; during the walk you can taste three wines from the Marco Felluga as well as Russiz Superiore production (if interested, book here).
I’ll tell you a secret…I’ve already booked a spot for myself for Saturday the 2nd at the Collio Wine Experience 2018. From 3 pm until 11pm, in the magical location of the Castle of Gorizia, there’s a unique event in which you can get to know all the products of the Collio and it’s the perfect moment to taste the wines in the tasting exhibition organized by the Consorzio Tutela Vini Collio. But not only wine. During the day there will also be some taste workshops and show cooking events.
Wait! That’s not all! During the same event there will also be an exhibition of cars from the Mittel European Race, along with clothing and bicycles of the group Bike Alpe Adria. I love the vintage atmosphere. I love to breath in the history of these places. I couldn’t have found a more interesting event.
But what about Collio in Vespa? Yes, you heard me. On Saturday you’ll be able to enjoy a little breeze on a yellow Vespa, the same color of the vines from which the white DOC wine is made. For additional information about this event please write to eventi@collio.it 🙂
You’re right, I don’t want to make this article endless. Just a couple more things and I’m done. On the last day of the event, Sunday the 3rd of June, there’s an almost mystical experience of the Awakening amongst the vineyards of Russiz Superiore (from 9.30 to 11.30); pastries and regenerating walks amongst the green plants will make you feel in harmony with nature. I might book too 🙂
There’s also the Bike, jazz and wine, a slow itinerary to follow on your bicycle in which you’ll discover the Collio all the way to the top of the Valley of Preval; the tour starts from Cormòns and among the varies destination, it will stop in Vigne Alte, the Sanctuary of the Beata Vergine del Soccorso and the red lakes of Capriva. The finish line? The wine tasting and the Roncus winery (for information and prices, here’s the link).
